Borg Collective wiki

Introduction

This wiki has been created for the Borg Collective to facilitate a coherent and long-term discussion of only topics that are relevant and specific to the emergence and expansion of the collective. This therefore excludes many general topics that can be discussed on wikis and forums elsewhere. One such disallowed topic would therefore be the development of wearable computing, as it is popular on many other sites. As this wiki grows, it may be manually ported pagewise to a more feature-rich wiki site, unless of course if PBwiki's free wiki hosting service evolves sufficiently to meet expectations.

Edits

It is recommended that users first review the PBwiki style page to learn how to effectively edit pages on PBwiki. The formatting used by PBwiki is somewhat different (although simpler) from that of MediaWiki, which is what is used for Wikipedia. Users are encouraged to participate in developing the collective knowledge base of the topics being discussed.

Changes

PBwiki offers multiple ways to track edits. These include the Changes button on the top of each page, and RSS2 and Atom feeds to the pages. Users are recommended to routinely revisit, track changes and stay active in the discussion topics of interest to them. New discussions topics, in accordance with the policy of this wiki, are of course allowed and encouraged.

Policy

  • The policy of this wiki is similar to that of Wikipedia in most aspects, except that original analysis and speculations are permitted when indicated as such.
  • Fragmentation of knowledge is inherently inefficient, so if a piece of information rightly belongs in Wikipedia, users are requested to post it there instead. The relevant points can then be summarized here with a link to the respective Wikipedia article and section. Alternatively, if a source is cited for any new information posted here, it may then be correctly assimilated into Wikipedia by any user in accordance with its policies.
  • Both vandalistic as well as irrelevant edits are prohibited and should be manually reversed.
  • Discussions are expected to be moderately formal.
  • Users are urged to act responsibly, intelligently, and to be nice at all times.
